100Km/Litre Car No Gimmick, All Real- Qatar Auto Show

Indian auto market is growing and it looks like there is no stopping now with the record breaking sales in 2010 crossing 30 per cent which is expected to grow further.
But this has brought in lime light alot about the purchasing behaviours of the Indian buyers. The people are conscious about the mileage of the car and also the after sales services provided by the auto company. This has been rightly captured by the Indian auto czars Maruti Suzuki's recent ad which comes with a tagline ‘Kitna Deti hai’ means What's the mileage.

But there are reports which is hinting on the new trend which Volkswagen will begin by making 3 digit fuel economy, a reality. The German auto brand has set the stage to unfold “the Most Fuel Efficient Car” which will be unveiled in Qatar Motor Show. As per the reports the new super stylish and total fuel economy car is expected to be a revised variant of L1 Concept which was showcased at Frankfurt Motor Show (2009). To achieve the fuel economy the L1 will use 0.8 litre TDI diesel mill which can produce maximum power of 27 Ps and generate torque of 100 Nm.

While, L1 is still a concept, the new car which will be unfolded at Qatar will be ready for production and is speculated to hit the car outlets by 2013. The revision version on L1 includes a small hybrid motor to support the diesel engine. To reduce the weight of the car, materials such as aluminum and carbonfibre have been used. The car has been worked out so well that it only weighs 290 kg. Well if the car is giving excellent mileage it is sure to enter in India. The technology this new car promises might be affixed in other Volkswagen cars soon.
